Scrapaholix page kits
I ordered a 1 x 3 month club kit subscription. Today I received a parcel containing two plastic wallets with paper in them. I presume these are kits but there were no instructions of any sort with them and I am unsure what I am supposed to do with them. Can you help please?
Hi there Jean
I am told that you received the January and February page kits, so these are the papers in the baggies - the one with the little resin flowers is January's, the greeny/brown one is February's.
You should receive an email from Carolyn each month with a copy of the technique notes we send to the organisers, and you can usuallyl find the instructions for at least two pages using the kits if you check the Tutorials tab at the top of the page, and there are usually quite a few pictures in the gallery of layouts from the organisers as well. You do need to be logged in to see the documents in the free classes section though. I am told that Carolyn hasn't done her pages yet - so hasn't put the free class up yet!
However, I am told that there weren't any technique notes for January - as the technique was basically sticking the little resin flowers onto your page. For February however, you can find all you need at Tim Holtz's blog where the master himself has basically provided the technique notes this month. Check out youtube.com as well for videos of Tim and others demonstrating how to use the glassine paper.
Hope that helps - but don't hesitate to get in touch with Carolyn or SJ on Scrapaholix2@aol.com/ scrapaholix@mac.com - its quuicker than expecting me to answer promptly

Hi Mandy,I met some collegues of yours at FIVE in Farnborough a couple of years ago. I went last year and you were`nt there,do you still go to crafts shows?I enjoyed meeting the girls and was able to pick up a large box of scrap kits.im a bit remote so cannot attend clubs and get inspiration from your web site.
Hi there!
Yes Carolyn & Sarah were at the Make it Show at Farnborough in 2010 - and they were selling off grab boxes of past club kits which would be the big box of kits you mention in your question.
We couldn't go this year for personal reasons, but we are talking with the lady in charge of the events about attending again next year with more great make and takes and grab boxes as well as past retreat kits, so keep an eye out for the Scrapaholix logo!
If you like the club kits - why not think about taking out a subscription to ensure that you get them each month? You get the kit mailed out to you, and will receive a copy of the technique notes we provide to the club organisers and Carolyn usually posts full instructions for her club samples in the tutorials section on here.
If you would like another grab box - please contact Sarah (scrapaholix@mac.com) or Carolyn (scrapaholix2@aol.com) and they will be happy to discuss details with you!
I read your reply to somewhere which said details were within the 'store', but cannot find them . Would be interested in details

Hi Jean
The 2012 retreats will be Kaiser retreats with 6 mega projects over the whole weekend rather than our usual retreat with optional classes.
For full details and a booking form, please drop Sarah an email on Scrapaholix@mac.com and she will send you details and a booking form.
Alternatively - I believe you will find a booking form on the Merly Impressions website www.merlyimpressions.co.uk.

I am a newbie having now completed two 8 x 8 scrapbooks. I found it very difficult to come up with layout ideas as most on line are for 12x12 pages which dont scale down very well when using a 6 x 4 photo even when cropped. Where can I find imaginative ideas for this size?
Hi there
Personally i find the 8x8 size much easier to deal with than 6x6 where room really is limited and everything seems to swamp the tiny page.
Try using sketches as a jumping off point, but really the only way to do an 8x8 page is to
* scale down 12x12 ideas you like to approximately 2/3 size
* use smaller (or cropped) photo(s) no bigger than 6x4
* use smaller titles - small BG alphabet stickers are just the right size for this size page.
* scale back on the embellishments - you need less on a smaller space.
Hope that helps - and why not share some of your pages in the gallery?

Hi there
There wasn't a second kit for August, but we hope to have one for September - and I will ask Sarah to ensure that she put the pictures of the second kits in the gallery in future.

Is there going to be a roadshow at either Havant or Southampton this year
Hi there
Not in Havant or Southampton as we have lost the clubs that were there.... but we do have one in Fleet (Hampshire) on the 2nd October.... It isn't far from the A3 and M3 and its literally 5 minutes from Farnborough where they have the Make it show/
Look forward to seeing you there.
See under the Store tab for details and booking
Upcoming roadshows and retreats
Hello,
I have just joined this great site and would like to find out about upcoming roadshows and/or retreats in the UK. The 'Store' tab is empty, what am I doing wrong? I would like to find out what is happening in August.
Thanks!
Faithge
Hi there Faithge
The roadshows and retreats are all shown on the "Store" page.
However, you do need to be registered with the site and logged in to see them.
Hope that helps and I look forward to meeting you on one of them!

Hiya
We used to have a club in the Launceston and Lewannick area but it closed a while ago.
Why not chat to the girls about starting up your own club?
A LOT of the current organisers started clubs when they were new to scrapping too - I believe Carolyn had only made one double page page layout when she started Tunbridge Wells Club 6 years ago LOL!! You get a lot of help and support from the girls when you start up and they supply teaching notes and instructions for sample pages for the newbies. See the free classes in the tutorials section above.
Go on - get in touch - what do you have to lose?
scrapaholix2@aol.com for all the details

Hi there
Are you a member of one of our clubs? (Sidcup and Bromley are both in SE London) If you are - ask your club organiser about ordering you one from our store. We have a few left at a really good price for members.
If not - nip over to www.UKScrappers.co.uk and check out some of the sponsors on there. There are LOADS of them offering albums in all shapes and sizes - or if you look in the photo album sections of shops like Boots and WHSmiths they quite often have 12 x 12 albums tucked away in there for around £15

Hi i was just wondering where the road show is held on 4th of September at Bexhill & also what the day involves as i have not been to one of these days before?
Hi there
The road show is held at Christ Chrurch Methodist Church Hall in Bexhill, and you can find full details of the day if you click on the "Store" tab up at the top of the page (you have to be registered and logged in first!)
Once in the store - go to Roadshows and retreats and click on Roadshows, then on Roadshows in Sussex and click on the link above the logo!
Basically though - the Roadshows offer you a day's cropping with a reasonable amount of space (never less than hald a 6x3 foot table if we can), as much tea and coffee as you can drink with biscuits in the morning and cake in the afternoon, and a jacket potato lunch.
There are also several optional classes to choose from throughout the day - and if there are enough particpants - we invite a shop to come along as well - and don't forget - all the way through 2010 we are running our buy one get one half price offer which means that you and a friend can come along for £12 each rather than the usual fee of £16!
